Remote Collaboration System with Empathic Interface
Mokpo National University
(Visiting Researcher, Empathic Computing Lab, University of South Australia)
Nowadays VR/AR HMDs are beginning to be integrated with eye-tracking technology.
In this talk, I introduce a remote collaboration system using Empathy interface and
a gaze depth estimation for remote collaboration.
Using the system, a local worker can share a view of their workspace with a remote expert,
as well as their gaze, facial expressions, and physiological signals.
The remote expert can send visual cues via a see-through head mounted display to help them
perform better on a real world task.
Our gaze depth estimation used a binocular gaze tracker with two eye cameras,
and the gaze vector was input to an MLP neural network for training and estimation

Human Perceptions and Social Influence in Human–Surrogate Interactions
University of Central Florida
(Synthetic Reality Lab, Institute for Simulation and Training)
Technological human surrogates, including robotic humans and virtual humans (e.g., avatars and agents),
continue to be used in a variety of applications including training, education, and entertainment.
This talk focuses on how differently human users perceive or
behave with the technological human surrogates with respect to different characteristics of the surrogates.
Mr. Kim introduces the recent research works from the Synthetic Reality Lab,
Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) in the University of Central Florida (UCF).
He emphasizes the potential of human surrogate systems and
the importance of human perception studies in physical–virtual shared spaces.
